I haven't posted anything yesterday, and I won't be able to post any new topic today. I am not home at the moment, and don't have my valuable resources with me. Inshallah my next post will be about lawful & unlawful relationships and love.

For now, I was wondering if you have any questions or any request for a topic. Please feel free. However, I will try my best to answer any questions, and to fulfil any requirements, but I can't guarantee you that 100%.

Love and Peace

This is a verse from the Qur'an (78:8).

Allah has created everything in pairs and bestowed an inherent physical and emotional attraction between members of the opposite sex.
Its human nature to be attracted towards the opposite sex and the attraction and desire is developed during puberty. The Islamic way of life leads young people toward lawful marriage that satisfies emotional, social and sexual needs in a secure and loving way.

There is no girlfriend/boyfriend thing in Islam, and I hope you are aware of the fact that sex before marriage is NOT permissible under ANY circumstances.

Haven't we all fallen in love once or more? Haven't we all liked someone very much? I hope you answered at least one of the questions with yes...Because this is a natural emotional feeling, it is not haram to feel love or any other emotions, as long as there is no action involved after it.
By that I mean, when you like a boy (or girl for the male readers...if there are any) and you do nothing (no action and not telling the person) that is considered as haram, then you are not committing a sin.

Ever heard of the phrase "Lawful Wives & Unlawful Girlfriends"? Well now days, young people in Islam are influenced by teenage romance from permissible societies and peer pressures that makes the young muslims get involve in illicit emotional and physical relationships, often between socially and psychologically immature boys and girls...

...next time you fall in love or 'fancy' someone, don't take actions and keep your emotions to yourself or tell that someone you have feelings for them and maybe share your emotions with a family member for advice and guidance.

You never know, your family members may introduce you to that particular person you like and it could lead to something lawful...*cough* marriage!

You shell read more next time, but for now...

...Love and Peace

Fine Art for my A-Levels in 2008/2009 at William Ellis School, part of La Swap focusing on women in fine art. My final work was a symbolism of women's mind, intellect and imagination. It's meant to reflect that a woman is more than her body, hence the silhouette being black and the rest painted in colourfully in oil paint.

Main materials used during my studies: Oil Paint, Black Ink, 4B Pencil
The rest of my work reflects on forms and shapes that are distinctively feminine (the curves on the glass), political movements to silence the population and more colourful abstract oil paint work to distract viewer from the female head silhouette at the bottom corner.

From my previous post, you should have been expecting this...As we all know, love is a powerful and strong emotion, it can be felt for something or someone. In Islam, love is a fundamental foundation to great Iman and to a healthy pathway.

Before we love anything or anyone else, we must must love Allah and His Messenger.

O Muslims! Do you truly love the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam? A fundamental of our religion, and a tenet of our faith, is to love him. Allaah says:

which means: “Say, [O Muhammad]: ‘If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allaah and His Messenger and Jihaad in His cause, then wait until Allaah executes His command. And Allaah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.” [At-Tawbah: 24]
Al-Fudhayl ibn ‘Iyaadh, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: “This verse is enough of an evidence to prove the obligation of loving the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, because Allaah dispraised in it those whose wealth, family or children are dearer to them than the love of Allaah and His Messenger sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, describing them as defiantly disobedient at its conclusion.”

It can't get clearer than this! Allah gave us all alhamdulillah, we have shelter, we have food to eat, we have clothes to wear, we have eduction and we have a religion that keeps us healthy and peaceful (I know there are people in hunger, war and in suffering out there, and I do wish that Islam is keeping hope and faith in them. May Allah grant all of your dua's and wishes. Ameen). In return we love Allah and His Messenger more than anything, because honestly where would we be without Allah? Why be ungrateful and complain? Why expect our dua's and prayers to be fulfilled if we don't love Allah and Muhammed sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam to the fullest and with our hearts?

Honestly people, snap out of your dreams and get back to reality and your religion...and with dreams I am not being literate here, I mean this world, with full of sins, material goods, false romance and all the other things that keep us distracted!
I am not a saint, nor am I saying that you are a sinner, I am just delivering a message to our beloved Ummah, so don't shoot the messenger (its just a saying)

Love and Peace...Ohh you'll be expecting more love :)

Roses are red, violet are blue...and you know the rest...But did anyone ask what does 'love' mean? Who do we love? Why do we love? And what is real love and fictional love?
One thing we do know is that love is recognised by all religions in the world, and is recognised and shared by all human beings (if not, then there is clearly something wrong...)
In Islam, the concept of love is very important. I am talking about Allah's Love for Creatures, Allah's Love for human being, human love for Allah and of course as we all know it, human love for fellow humans.

(Love Poster By Zinah)

Each day, I will be covering the following topics inshallah...Before I get to this, I just got a book as a present called "Perspectives on the Concept of Love In Islam' Second Edition...I started reading it and some stuff just did not make any sense, like Love& Hate...there is NO hate in Islam in ANY circumstances, we have not the right to judge a fellow brother or sister, we are not allowed to hate them for the sin's they do or hate a person for their religion! This is all wrong, and if you have been taught otherwise, please do go to a sunni Sheikh and ask!

I called the Institute of Islamic Studies, Islamic Centre of England to ask about why they have included a sub chapter called Love& Hate, when clearly there is no hate or should be any hate to fellow human beings...they could not answer my question and told me to call back to ask their Sheikh and told me that they are a Shia Institute...that explains.

Please do not get me wrong, I am not against any believes or religions, and I am not against Shia, as they are also fellow Muslims...but the teachings are different, and I'm not gonna discuss which one is wrong and which one is right. Lets keep it all professional and peaceful here.
I am Sunni, so therefore I will only cover topics that are taught by Sunni Scholars and by Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.

Ok, back to love hahah, Inshallah I will be covering these topics within the next couple of days:
- Allah's Love for Human Beings and Creatures
- Love for Allah
- Love for Fellow Human Beings

For now, Love and Peace

Asalamu Alaikum Everyone

I don't know if anyone is reading my blog, but I do hope that at least someone out there is reading it inshallah...I had one comment...from my sister, that doesn't count right?
I know its just a start and the topics I have posted about aren't really exciting, but I am working on it ;)

Ramadan is coming soon inshallah, the 11th of August 2010. I hope everyone is as excited as I am :D its such an amazing month in many ways. Inshallah, I will be posting about the noble obligations of Ramadan, fasting, recipes of food for breaking the fast, dua's and many more.

For now, keep reading my (hopefully) exciting posts about Islam and Women in Islam :)

Asalamu Alaikum Everyone

As we all know that entertainment for Muslims must be permissible and in a way that does not interfere with our religion. You all know that watching films is one way to keep yourself entertained...
Now days films aren't really classified as 'clean' for Muslims and by that I mean films with haram content, such as women not dressed modest, bad language etc (I hope you know what I mean). So therefore, it is not really easy to chose a film to watch in the cinemas...Obviously we all watch the trailers beforehand and can 'assume' what to expect...But to be safe, I recommend Muslims to watch 'U' films.

Yes I know, all of it are children films and animations, but safe! You will not be worried about seeing something haram and you can watch it with anyone, your family and your friends.

Anyway, please do feel free to correct me, if I wrote anything wrong. I am not a sheikh or an Islamic scholar, but inshallah, I am hoping to use the best reference possible and to double check with my local mosque.

Back to the films! This month there are only few 'U' rated films in cinemas, and I will be writing a short review for each one I have personally watched. Last week I have watched ' Shrek Forever After 3D'...I'm sure many of you are familiar with Shrek.

(Picture from: www.bsckids.com)
Shrek Forever After 3D:
The average ratings for Shrek Forever After/ The Final Chapter is 6.3/10...according to Rotten Tomatoes (www.rottentomatoes.com) and IMDB (www.imdb.com)...Why are the ratings a bit lower than expected? I honestly don' know...However Screen Crave (www.screencrave.com) gave it a 7.5/10 which I totally agree with. I watched it and loved it! It is a good comeback, though I must admit that I was a bit disappointed when I watched the trailer before the actual film. I thought to myself "Oh here we go again, another Shrek! Don't we have enough of those?" well I'm sure some people thought the same, because this is the fourth Shrek film. Most films are trilogies and are better kept that way (well don't even include Harry Potter, I wouldn't be surprised if it came on as TV series...).

I guess DreamWorks Animation was keen to add another one to the Shrek film series...Not a bad move! I loved the humour in the film, the characters and the story line, despite the fact that I was dreading to watch it! My expectations were obviously not correct, and the last 30mins of the film had the best jokes. I left the cinema with a smile on my face. It was a good ending to the series, everyone loves a happily ever laughter.

I recommend you to watch it before its too late...or simply wait until the DVD is released ;)

I'm sorry that my review is so short, brief and a bit late (since the film has been released on May 21st), but my writing is a little bit rusty and I just started this blog YESTERDAY. I should get back to practicing my writing :)

Love and Peace

Hi everyone...my name is Zinah and I'm a graphic design student, currently in my second year (well not technically, but I'm starting my second year in september...). Anyway, this is the first time I'm blogging, and this is my first post ever! I've seen blogs, I've read couple of blogs, but I never thought of creating my own blog, until today, really...My inspiration: Julie& Julia...The movie...I just watched the movie couple of hours ago, and I really loved it! Meryl Streep is stunning and I loved her character Julia (not so sure if I'd love the real Julia...) it was just a bliss, and Amy Adams is always a sweetheart and she played her character Julie very well.

Now you may start to think, what on earth Julie& Julia has to do with this blog and if my blog will be about cooking...the answer to the first question is Julie ( I guess the Julie in the movie and the real Julie) inspired me to start my own blog and to write about the things I love the most...the answer to the second question is NO! This blog will not be about cooking...only...but it will be about Islamic cooking, Islamic Fashion, Islamic Marriage, Islamic Weddings, Islamic Family, Love, Happiness, Birth, Children and mainly Muslim Women!

I'm a muslim myself, and I try to practice my faith as best as I can Alhamdulillah. I have been reading and buying so many books about the things listed above (Islamic cooking, marriage, family etc. Don't wanna go through the list again haha) and I got inspired by it all and decided to share all of it...I will start posting soon inshAllah...and I'm guessing I don't have (m)any readers right now...well you shell hear from me soon, whoever you are :)

Love and Peace
